Is no big business sacred. At one time the old Co-op was the backbone of the country.

When I was a kid if anyone had a co op funeral, people said they only had co op for the divvy

They always used to say the Co-op looked after you from the cradle to the grave.

If I remember right my mom's co op number was 142791,tatoed on my brain.

It is all down to management and mis-management.
Bigger brands than the co-op have gone under, this one hurts because it was supposed to be the panacea for all that was wrong with retail in the 1860s. Those things that were wrong are now enforced by law and we have many more choices.
In short we don't choose to spend enough at the co-op.

I am guilty of big spends at Tesco and Morrison but I still shop at Co-op because they can be good value and easier to drop into.

It would be a terrible shame if the banking side brought down the whole enterprise.

and prices volty....on the odd occasion i pop into my local co op just for a nose round..they are so expensive in everything they sell..take just before easter for instance...i was looking at their easter eggs and could not believe that the large boxed cadburys eggs with a mug inside were £6 each..down the road at my tescos express they had the very same eggs on offer at £2..needless to say i got mine from there..such a shame really as said by SB the co op was once the backbone of the country..
