School Summer Holdays, Too Long?

The current summer holiday is for six weeks.

Personally I have long thought that there shouldn't be much if any holidays during the summer.
Schools are very expensive to heat yet they are open for pretty much the whole of the winter and closed for the warmest months of the year.
Extreme bad weather makes it difficult for pupils to attend or in some case for schools to open at all.
Surely the very obvious answer is to move the six week holiday into the winter months. The saving on fuel bills would be quite substantial and the misery of travelling in poor weather would be reduced.

If one did not know already, we now know that Volty has no children, and cannot realise that the thought of having several kids not able to go out because of the weather for 6 weeks is perhaps not what many mothers would long for

So the kids would be indoors at school all summer and indoors all winter at home.

Kids are largely at home when they aren't at school, anyway.
Video games and the internet see to that.
