can't see the gathered up thing, someone would have left something on, it appears that one of the chinese planes have confirmed some sort of stuff in the water, as did an aussie plane, thing is the tide for want of a better word is running at 75km per hour so stuff move very quickly, the orions take so long to get there that they can only stay in the search area for two hrs, not much time, i think there's a lapse in our maritime surveillance. even if they do find bits the main bulk that has sunk could be hundreds of miles from the site, as a sceptic I like the US congresswomans idea that it was sucked up into a black hole ( a cia one of course)

although they have found some bits - now comes the hard bit, they brought in a special undersea tracker thing today, its towed behind a ship, very deep, it is used to listen for the pings from the black box, but i think there is only 10 days battery life left, and there is another cyclone off our west coast. even if the find it , i understand the sea bed is around 3 km down. big job.

Search called off today, bad weather.

300 floating objects have been spotted ranging from two to 15 mtrs in size they are NOT confirmed as parts of the plane, but they are within the designated area that the plane is thought to be.
the satellite pictures came from Thailands earth observation satellite on monday but they take days to process, these objects are about 200kms from where the french satellite detected the 100 objects,

on another note the pilot had a flight simulator in his home, whilst some see this as significant, others like me do not, the flight simulator programme is an off the shelf product, in fact I had many years ago on my home computer when I was doing my pilots licence. so it may or may not be relevant, the FBI has the pilots computer in washington and the results will be ready in two days time, they have not said whether they will release the results.

I think what is interesting is the slant that you hear how they conflict, one person says that there were three altitude changes and three course changes on the flight and this could not be done without human input, others say that the auto pilot can have changes made without human input due to weight as fuel drops ect. two theories who knows

personally it think it was those pesky aliens again - sorry its not a joking matter, I fly with Malaysia airlines a couple of times a year when I fly from Singapore to Penang, I find them as good as any other airline

Unless it is down to poor maintenance I don't see how the airline will be to blame.
I only fly with airlines that have good maintenance records, which rules out Russian, Indian and Pakistani companies.

well im much the same, qantas is the one i use the most only as thats where my frequent flyer points go, i was happy till recently, they were aligned with british airways, but they dumped them and now are joined with emirates, Bit i dont like Dubi. singapore air and cathay pacific i like, and i find thai and malaysian acceptable for short haul in asia. i think after my next trip to usa an i use up my qantas points i will likley change to singapore airlines as im in there kris frequent flyer programme, just dont use it much

back to the missing plane, news tonight says the aircraft was flying faster than first thought, so was using fuel faster, this means it could not have travelled so far before it ran out of fuel, so the search area has been moved 100km closer to australia (perth) the plot thickens

That thing about speed is in our news as well. I know it's about cruising efficiency, but the way they report it one would think that if you fly faster for a shorter time you go just as far.

not as i understand it, the faster you fly the less efficient it is so u use more fuel so travel less distance, works like that in my car, on a tank i do around 600km as long as i stay under 100, if i go fast it goes a shorter distance on the same tank of petrol. tonights news say they are leaving with the under water sonar tracking thing. none of the items recovered so far have been identified as from the plane,

two developments today, a chinese ship has had two pings, at the same frequency as the black box emits, but they have not confirmed it is the flight recorder

but an australian ship has had - well in their words " an unidentified event" the two ships are a long way apart, so I guess they are hearing different things

the OZ ship is refusing to say what the event was, and the fact the ship is staying on station and not going to the position of the chinese ship leaves you to ask what was the event?

The expected life of the beacon battery is due to expire isn't it?
Perhaps sitting still and waiting for the signal to stop is a good plan.

latest the australia ship did one pass with 2hrs and 1 minutes of pings, on return leg got 13 miutes

so they are close, it may take 3 days to decipher the pings, but im guessing with their great gps they will get close very soon, but the unmanned submersible that can take pics, will be at its depth limit, not sure how they will retrieve, oh and they got pings from both recorders
