Volty if I had a bottomless wallet or just starting out I may think about DCC but as neither is the case I will stay with gas powered Anaologue.

DCC Version is DCC Fitted
Non DCC Version is DCC Ready
Older models are either not DCC Ready or Not Compatible. Most can be converted.
Three of my DCC Fitted loco's cost less than their DCC Ready versions.
One was £50 less at Amazon, another was about £30 less at Hattons.
The third was in a pack for £99 while the DCC Ready version is £85
DCC versions are only £17 more when sold at full price, which is the cost of a decoder.
My point was that if are buying a new model then you might just as well buy the DCC version if it the same price or cheaper.
If you see a good DCC Fitted loco for £30 then buy it.
If you don't want it I'll give you £35 for it.

I have some wagons and carriages from ebay. The old Triang stuff is well made and runs really smoothly, especially when compared to the "Made in China" garbage Hornby are now turning out.

I know you do SB. Wait till you try and run them on rails.
What I like about Hornby is the scope for modifications.
There are so many parts that can be pulled, cut or twisted off that I get endless hours of creative fun from a single wreck, sorry, I mean loco.

While I look that up, ask yourself why they put so much detail on the underside?

Perhaps the new TTS loco's, if they ever appear, will have the sound of a loco derailing and falling over.

I picked another Locomotive up on ebay recently, a real gem at £28.50 (£32.50 with postage)
A Brittannia class 4-6-2. not bad considering it was built around 1961.
