That man must wonder what he has done to deserve all that bad luck,just in the run up to christmas.

Surely if it is the water companies fault (I gather the burst pipe was outside the shop), then he can claim for lost profits from the water company .

The water company said... “...... We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
They all say that, but it isn't an actual apology is it? They are just saying they would like to.

Anyway, it sounds like the water company will try and blame him for having an opening in the building that lets water in. At least his windows are clean and intact.
I was present at a burst water main on a building site once. It was a bit scary, the water ripped the ground apart and sent soil and stones high into the air.
