Having a sort out earlier found some old currency coins, farthings ,halfpenny's threepenny bit , sixpences, two shilling piece ,half crown, and 3 churchill five shilling pieces.I had forgot about them. Was it 72 when it changed to decimal,i even now think of 50 pence as 10 bob.

Hi Jo 15th February 1971 was Decimal Day.
Even though it meant some prices going it up. I must say I like decimal currency its much easier to work with.

Lyn I think you may mean a 1933 Old Penny Apparently there were only about 7 made I heard. There is only one ore two missing and if you found one you could name your price.

You were right Lyn. See http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...ale-30-000.html .
SB As I understand it , if you did find a 1933 penny and tried to sell it, you might be the target of a police investigation, as the only one not in a collection was stolen by thieves from under s foundation stone ! ( http://www.24carat.co.uk/frame.php?url=1933penny.html )

I am well up on the metric system as I use it all the time.
For instance, if I measure up for a length of conduit it might be 2ft 4" 7mm, or 1m 3.5"

I also have a rough conversion chart:
1 Kilogramme = 42 Pounds or 3oz, whichever gets me the better deal.
1 Kilometre is about seven lightyears.

I am 18 metres tall and weigh 11 grammes.

Thats' relatively simple Volty. some of the old Cadbury recipes (I'm talking about the 1970s) sometimes involved, fluid ozs, ozs, lbs, gallons, mls and drachms.
