Astoness, I have just taken another look at Hunters Road and I found that the old school building is No.169, so it is possible that the pub in question was knocked down. Having said that the blue and white building looks like it was a pub and the numbering may have been up one side and down the other in 1880, which is the era I am interested in. Any photo's of any era will be gratefully accepted.
right voltly the pub you are looking for is the coulbourne arms corner of villa road and hunters road..see map...i have been after a pic of this pub for many years now...it certainly was not there in the 1950s so was demolished before then and the ground was used for willets greengrocers..i remember it well...the blue building on the other side was the burton pub...i do have an old photo somewhere showing just a tad of the coulbournes lamp high up but as to date that is all i have..will post next
oh and yes thats the burton..dates back to around 1850 could be older

Bild entfernt (keine Rechte) I have just realised that I spent ages recently trying to place this photo I found on the web. It was of Barringtons second hand shop on Soho Hill. The presence of Birmingham Mica in the background gave it away as being on Soho Hill.
According to Kellys 1880 No.7 was on or close to the corner with Claremont Road and on the opposite corner was George Biddle, Monumental Mason. My guess it that the pub is out of shot to the left, especially if it was listed in 1965, and Biddles became Barringtons. If only we could swivel old photo's.
