Without wishing to sound dogmatic. what do you expect from a Tory government? Yes we all know the HSE have built their own little empire and they need curtailing but this just smacks of the Tories favouring the bosses once again. Whats more this is only the thin edge of the wedge and there is more to come.

Yes, just par for the course as far as the rules of employment are concerned. As far as health & safety inspoections are concerned, this should be the responsibility of the firm to ensure the safety of their premises, and they should be slammed , personally if necessary (ie not hide behind a "limited liability company ") if someone gets hurt. As long as this responsibilty is enforced (without dubious overpriced lawyers being involved) then I see no objection to inspections being abolished in these cases.

I have every objection to these inspections being abolished. The one thing that keeps an awful lot of work places safe is the fact that they MAY JUST GET A VISIT. If the HSE don't visit, no problem, But they just might. As far as I know the 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act is still the only single Act of Parliament that can instantly close a company down.
there are still too many Cowboy Firms and Workers still die.
