Dudley Zoo Chair Lift

#1 by phil ( deleted ) , Sat Aug 25, 2012 7:15 pm

Anyone like to tell me why it cost £117,000 to repair the chair lift at Dudley Zoo. They say it was mostly a cosmetic job (a coat of paint) a modification to the T bar locks and a new electric motor. I doubt the whole thing cost that much when it was first installed in 1958.

It just leaves me wondering where were all these jobs when I was looking for them, all we got was hard work for very little money and when the job was finished nobody wanted to pay until you threatened court action.

It probably cost around £5000 pounds to repair the Chairlift. Then of course the £10,000 Consultants fee and the £112,000 for the Scaffolding.

the trouble is I think in most of these places maintenace is done on a very sparing basis. so when a problem arises it can be a major operation.

SB

I think the main problem in this case is that it was taken out of service about ten years back and has just been hanging around since (excuse the pun) Even so I think £117,00 excessive.

It's probably cheaper than a new one, some comedian would probably come up with a price tag of around £5 Million.

They have just had 1.2 million off the lottery to fund repairs to some of the Tecton buildings, Talking about the lottery what about Bransons latest bit of arrogance trying legally to get the health lottery stopped. Is there no end to this mans greed? I would rather see the money go to the health service any time than it go to a silly concrete bear enclosure.

To be quite honest I used to do the lottery but I stopped when I saw there was no shaking the government over the way the funds were allocated. Not that I think any good cause or the national health service should be reliant on lottery payers. We pay more than enough to fund the health service now if most of the money wasn't diverted for other means such as white collar civil servants and private health hospital fees.

I play the lottery to win. Zero altruism here.
It's nothing to do with me what they do with the money, I thought it all went to the directors of Camelot.
