Crime and sentencing

I see some clever arse in the Government wants to do away with short prison sentences.
ie: anything up to six months. This apparently will free up around 6000 jail places. The thinking is that short sentences do not rehabilitate people anyway and that they are a waste of time.
What about the punishment aspect of these sentences, if someone breaks into my house and they get caught, I want to know that they have gone to jail, even if it's only for four months or so. That should be long enough to get a bloody good kicking in The Green.

We'll be letting murders off with a caution next.

Zero tolerance works as has been proven in New York by mayor Guilani when he clamped down on the minor offences it proved to make the City a safer place.

Unfortunately we have a stand for anything, get away with anything policy.
I think we should have a capital punishment policy.
Then when we have got rid of the politicians start on the next bunch of crooks.

I thoroughly agree SB. I would gladly pull the lever that strung up Boris and Rees Mogg as the first ones
