I always was wary of the idea of the "beneficent" energy companies being given free rein in arranging for the installation of these things, as I was/am with water meters
I hope the socket on your local street light is fully tested and certificated by a qualified member of an electrical old boys club Phil. I wouldn't want you to fall foul of the law.
Phil, As long as they are paying some private members club to say they are safe and reliable then you must trust them, that's almost the law. It's nearly as good a recommendation as the morons that advertise on the radio claiming they can put you in touch with bona fide contractors who do a guaranteed good job. The only contractors who have to pay these morons in the first place are useless and not getting any work, all the decent contractors have more than they can handle.
Anyway, it only takes 20 minutes to swap a meter so I'm sure you can last that long without power. VM
