Yes John I have read about this before and I think in the 80's a local new crew went down into parts of these tunnels a quite a lot of them were still in good repair.

Having worked all over the centre of Birmingham I can tell you that there are a warren of tunnels all over the city centre, most of them are for service use and access. In places Birmingham goes down as deep as it does above ground. For instance I have worked three floors down in Cannon street and that is deeper than some of it is high.

I saw that on the News Phil, I believe some were around the Victoria square Post office area. big enough to drive Trucks through.

m partner when a delivery driver many years ago used to tell me about the tunnels under the city and my step dad worked for the railways and also a lot of their parcels went below ground on these tunnels.
