This is always what the Tory's do, it looks as if they care but all they are doing is providing cheap labour for those that should be paying the going rate.

I always remember the YTS scheme, every job that we went on had them in the 70's & 80's. The one job had three a trainee bricklayer, plumber and electrician. Speaking to them they told me they had been working for the firm for six months and all they had ever done was labouring. They had never even used one of their brand new shiny tools.

I asked if they had some sort of a supervisor from the Department of Employment who looked after them. When they answered yes they had, I then said well have you told him this? They answered yes they had but he wasn't interested and all he had told them was to stop moaning.

I still say, what we need to return is a professional system of Apprenticeships. Real tradesmen are sadly lacking. How difficult is is to get hold of a carpenter to hang that door, a Plumber to fit that sink, an Electrician to fit that extra socket. Tradesmen are getting harder to find. How many houses have burned down because a small job has been done incorrectly.
There is plenty of work around, just teach the kids how to do it.
