As I have said before, all they have got to do is make it illegal to stop scrap metal merchants paying out in cash. It will all stop then.

Apparently that is to happen in the new year Phil. Some Police forces already have dedicated squads to combat this. Hopefully before someone dies.

Do you know at one time we actually took ferrous metals to the tip because is wasn't worth the extra journey to a merchant who could deal with lorry loads. Only what was classed as OS light iron. Now with the prices they are at today you wouldn't throw an old bed spring out.

In the same way coal mines were shut down because they were deemed uneconomical. Many people would love to get their sticky mitts on that coal now.
