He was an honest man who genuinely cared for people, and that is proved by all the efforts he put into his health and charitable works. I saw him on quite a number of occasions when I lived , or later when i regularly visited, Leeds. He was definitely a man of the people, in that he would be friendly to anyone and had no airs and graces (Oh that a lot more people could be like that!). I am not a flashy dresser, far from it, but would not be seen dead in most of the clothes he wore (in real life , not just at events), but that was his business and I admired him for not being bothered by what other people thought.
