I know some on this forum have been using this site for years so I have just signed up for three months to see what I am missing.
I have already found some newspaper articles that mention my 4 greats grandad, a gunmaker.

There's a lot of interesting stuff in the old papers and the search system is quite good at finding what you might be looking for.

I agree. But you will sometimes find yourself diverted into all sorts of byways and end up not doing what you intended

I have already done that a couple of times, but then I am always straying, such as when I am trying to put a materials order in with a wholesaler I end up window shopping at Amazon.
