Who needs Oliver Cromwell (or Brucie for that matter) when I've been waiting unheralded for an honour of some description for years

A damsel in distress? All I've got at present is a duck in aspic. Would that do for a start? I'm just trying to decide how to break the news of my award to my wife who is asleep and totally unaware of the honour

Graham, You appear to have a lifestyle of which we know nothing about. Vimto I'm familiar with but Champers? Isn't that a refined lemonade?

Well, I shall sleep contentedly tonight knowing at least one person has realised my values. I don't like to bring the matter up but do I get a certificate and is any monetary reward involved?

David

Don't get too carried away, he has to go back in the institution tomorrow. They only let him out during the week to go to work.

Phil, I was just living the dream. I've had five wonderful minutes and now you come on and wreck it all. This is the twentieth time today I've been destroyed. I fear it may become a permanent situation. I shall retire with my Horlicks and a magazine (Playboy perhaps) to consider my position.

That's why I've been honoured with an award and you haven't. Anyway, hope you've had a good day. Perhaps tomorrow will be a sunny one.

Having completed the first complete day as a Knight (sic) I am now facing up to the demands of the Mrs. which will, (as usual) be completely ignored.
