Volunteers from the St Vincent de Paul Society have for years run what we would loosely call a soup kitchen from the car park of St Michael’s RC church in Moor St in the city centre. They dole out food each evening to the homeless. They have operated from there for over 20 years.
A new parish priest Father Marcin Kordel has demanded that they quit the church car park. Apparently some of the congregation are worried about the security of their cars. Apparently the charity workers have tried to move to an adjacent car park, but they have been threatened that their vehicles will be clamped if they do so.
It seems that for St Michaels charity doesn't’t begin at home, in fact it begins anywhere than at home.

More worried about parking their own cars is more like it, total tosspots, I wish or hope they would read this.
Typical of the modern church. My ex in laws used St Michaels.
What's the difference between a Christian and a non Christian?
A Christian does the right thing because it's the Christian thing to do.
A non Christian does the right thing because it's the RIGHT thing to do.

Were the ex in laws Polish, because I read recently that the main congregation used to be of Polish extraction just before and after the last war. Of late attendance figures were falling, like all the other churches I suppose. There was talk of it closing at one time, but due to the EU ruling on open borders they have recently had a change in fortunes with the new influx of immigrants from Poland. Even this new priest "Marcin Kordel" looks to be of Polish origin.

No Phil the Ex in laws were not Polish. do you realise though that there are two churches there side by side. St Michaels is the Catholic church, the white building.
There is a brick built church next door which comes onto Carrs Lane with it's door on Moor Street. This I think has Polish and German history. SB

No I think it's St Michaels I was reading about because most Poles are Roman Catholic.

Being a priest I would hang him from part of his anatomy that he has no use for.

Perhaps I could have rephrased that better, although an ex altar boy being a priest is the last thing in the word I would want to be. Though I probably would have as much faith as the majority of them now have. I certainly have more charity.

You didn't notice that I added the comma in the quote, did you Phil. Till I tried it I thought the quote had to be as originally written
