I don't understand.
Europcar were repairing their own cars that were damaged by the people renting them.
If the charges are made known to the renter before the contract is signed then there is no argument for refunds or compensation.
If you take a hire car back with a broken windscreen wiper, for instance, that you managed to break yourself but can't be bothered to replace, then you should be charged.

If the charges were not made known then large sums of money should be refunded.

Their on-line price guide shows ridiculous charges but they clearly don't want anyone to read it.

Nothing much to understand, it is fraud. they have to give their credit card details before renting . they bring it back OK. No comment to them. them a month later people find hundreds of pounds deducted from their card for supposed damage, which would be fraudulent even if there had been damage. What else do you expect when the country is governed by crooks like Boris, May, Davis Hunt & Gove

It's the same in Spain and Portugal. I haven't rented a car in ages because of this.
