RIP John Noakes

#1 by Voltman , Mon May 29, 2017 11:12 am

After suffering from Alzheimer's disease, John Noakes had died aged 83.

Blue Peter presenters in my day were John and a sheepdog, Peter Purves and Valerie Singleton.

The Sheepdog was of course Shep, who John was always telling to get down.
Christopher Trace was on with Val too at first.

The email of the species is more deadly than the mail.

I do know Shep's name but I wrote "sheepdog" because there were two of them.
The first was Patch.

"Like other presenters he was expected to have an animal and, in 1966, Patch arrived in the studio, the son of Petra, another Blue Peter dog.
Patch died suddenly at the age of five and Noakes broke down in tears when he went on set to give his young audience the sad news."
