Manchester Cuts, Birmingham Next?

#1 by phil ( deleted ) , Wed Feb 09, 2011 12:12 pm

Manchester is one of the worst hit Councils by the planned government cuts and they have started to wield the axe. Cuts announced are,

36 Sure Start Nurseries
20 Youth Centres
5 Libraries
3 Sports Centres
6 Public Toilets
2 Swimming Pools
Free Parking
Free Advice

Cuts.

£40 million for Adult Care
£45 million Children’s Services
£12.6 Million Housing for Vulnerable People

2000 Jobs (17%) of Council jobs to go.

I somehow think that the 3,700 job losses in Birmingham and increases to council house rents and car parking along with restricted funds for care and the arts are not going to be all that we have to face ahead.

But Phil, have you seen the latest idea from that pratt Wei , who was appointed by Cameron to organise the "Big Society" and then cut his hours because the post was unpaid and he couldn't afford to live in the style to which he was accustomed. He now says ( http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2011/...part-time-staff ) that councils should employ people part time ( at of course greatly reduced salaries ), so that they can then have more free time to donate to his plans.

I have to agree with Tessa Jowell. the idiot needs to get a grip on reality and join the rest of us in the real world. Where part time work does not pay enough to pay the bills.

Birmingham didn't need Axeman Cameron, our fine City have been cutting back for a lot longer that the Condems. Manchester is losing it's public toilets. Wee lost ours a long time ago. SB
