I am very sad to hear of the passing of the great Brian Matthew. He was a Gentleman a very interesting man who knew his subject inside out. A very easy man to listen to I have loved his sounds of the sixties shows for years. I also know that Brian had been ill for some time and I hope he didn't suffer too much. RIP the late Great Brian Matthew a wonderful radio presenter who is already sadly missed.

Not so fast. It seems that the BBC exaggerated his demise.

"BBC radio broadcaster Brian Matthew 'critically ill but alive'

I heard that yesterday. Bloody stupid and irresponsible BBC. I also heard that The BBC didn't apologise to his family either.

It was a member of his family who mis-advised the BBC.

"The BBC had originally been informed by a member of Matthew's family that he had died."
