I posted to the Xobor support forum ....
"Hello,
We have three members reporting getting half and full screen advertising pop-ups for "Delta Wars", in German, whilst visiting our forum.
One member deleted a cookie and it seems to have stopped for him.
Another member has reported also getting a second pop-up for "Monsters Mash", again in German.
They all claim that this only occurs on our forum and one other, also on Xobor.
I have checked these names and find they are browser based war games, both have German websites.
Is this an issue known to Xobor?
Regards
Voltman

Xobor gave me this reply....
"Hi, with a free forum there is advertising to generate the revenue needed to provide the forum services.
With a premium rate (profi rate or business rate) there is no advertising.
Regards, Alice"
I don't think the initial question has been addressed so I have responded......
"Hello Alice,
I understand the advertising element of the forum but this new full screen annoyance has never been seen before this last week.
In fact I was not aware of Xobor using "pop-ups" at all.
Should I tell the members that it is Xobors new advertising ploy?
Until now I have been suggesting they have Adware or Malware issues. A situation which upgrading the forum would not resolve.
Voltman"

Well said. Some marketing people are really weird, and think we enjoy adverts and find them interesting (they probably some severe form of mental incompetance and should receive treatment). I always ignore them, but there is always the danger that, if they become too intrusive, then people will not bother to log in

Xobor gave me this reply....
"Hello Voltman,
we are using different kinds of advertisement including pop-ups. The advertising is always changing, as our advertisers change their advertising regulary.
Regards, Alice"
My (final) reply....
Thanks Alice.
That does seem to indicate that the members concerned probably do not have Adware infections.
"Full screen" pop ups seem to be a bit much though, one member has trouble taking them down, perhaps the exit buttons are not visible enough.
regards
Voltman
I suggest anyone still afflicted by these pop-ups should try any and all of the measures I mentioned recently.
These include:
Set your browser to block Pop-Ups
Set your browser not to accept third party cookies.
Delete browsing history
Delete suspect and Xobor related cookies
Delete all cookies

Probably disguised by the advertiser Mike, or appears after a short delay, Xobor write the code and I can only hope they wouldn't be so stupid as to alienate all the free forums.
It was your deletion of a cookie that interested me, do you happen to remember the name of said cookie?

I think you misunderstood me Volty, /they started appearing (perhaps by chance), when I clocked on the site after I had deleted all cookies, which meant i did not automatically log on. after I had logged on then the pop up did not appear.

OK Mike, thanks for that, I'll have to have a bit of a think about what that suggests.
It's relevant because of the three members to report seeing these adverts, so far, you are the only one to have gotten rid of them.

Very strange, I don't get these pop ups popping up on my Lap Top, but I looked at the forum on my phone and there it was popping up at me. So I popped off.

Browsers have a setting for stopping pop-ups.

Latest from Xobor regarding the pop-ups.
Hello,
we are using pop-ups but I can't tell if these are our pop-ups, as long as we don't see the advertisement. Please post a screenshot from such advertisement and make sure, the browserline with the address is also shown on the screenshot, so we can have a closer look at it.
Regards, Alice
If any member can assist with this please post the screenshot to the pop-up thread
