Microsoft have been up to a bit of trickery regarding Windows 10 upgrades.

Apparently it enabled itself to do this with windows update KB3035583. Apparently if you uninstall this update (and make sure it does not reinstall it later) then you can stay in peace with your old system

I still say the best system {for me any way} was what I learned on XP.

Windows 10 is Microsofts attempt to be Apple.

You no longer have Programs (Applications) you have Apps (Programs)
You can get Programs form anywhere and load them onto your machine, Apps generally have to come from the supplier of the operating system, thus ensuring them with a never ending stream of cash for crap.

There was always one golden rule for me when I was a Microsoft slave, NEVER update the operating system. It isn't for your benefit it's for Microsoft's.
I learned the hard way, back in the days of Windows 3.1, accept a so called security update and then find nothing works.
Same in Windows 3.11 and then Windows 95. I have never updated a PC since, it isn't worth the upset.
