We always had cocoa at bedtime, we had a cup of oxo at the swimming baths.

I remember when sweet rationing was on mom would put us a bit of cocoa in the corner of a paper bag with a bit of sugar in with it ,as we had spent our sweet coupons for the month ,wet you finger stick it in and lick it ,happy day's .

When it got towards the end of the month we very often had bread and a scrape of marg on it ,then a sprinkle of sugar ,that was sunday tea.

To be fair Lynne The Bananas and Mustard and the Sugared Marmite lollies were a joke, even my bad taste wouldn't stoop that low. The most weird thing I had at times {and not very often} was Golden Syrup on bread and Margerine {Kraft or Vitalite if I remember right}.

I remember golden syrup, you had to twirl it round a spoon to get it out of the tin, it was very sweet.

Golden Syrup (Morrisons) is now available in a squeezy bottle, I use it when roasting veg.

The cod liver oil gave essential fatty acids (now called omega-3), while the malt gave B vitamins. The malt also made it less repulsive.
