Mike, you might have called it tag, I've never heard of tig.
It's a multiperson game of Chase. The only contact is supposed to be the chaser's hand on any part of the chasee's body, at which point the tagged or caught chasee becomes chaser. Grabbing is not allowed and is unneccesary.

I always preferred Kiss Chase. Reminds me of sunny days and cotton dresses, I used to make my own don't you know?

Yes we always called it TIG, after you have touched someone you had to say Tig your'e on. Then as Volty says the Tigged person has to chase around and catch someone else.
