Went for my operation yesterday. Arrived at ward at 7.30 am. Was visited by surgeon, had leg marked so they did the right one, had blood pressure and blood sugar tested, answered dozens and dozens of questions, was visited by the anaesthetist who quizzed and advised me. Was gowned ready and after four hours and a Bullshit reason I was lied to and cancelled. Then I was told it was to go ahead on the 27th of November because they had just cancelled two other people to accommodate me. When I told them that this date was unacceptable to me they wasn't happy. Tough. After cancelling apparently they must do it in 28 days so we wait and see. yesterday I was disappointed, upset, disgusted and angry.

hello sb and there was you praising the nhs last time..now why did i think this may happen...it happened to someone i know...cancelled the op 4 times but at least he was informed before he got to the being gowned up stage usually the day before...that really is disgraceful to get a patient all geared up then let down..there are many out there who dread having ops and then they have to go through all the stress again...and why cancel 2 other people to accommodate you...you are only one person..as you refused the new date i wonder if they will now phone up the cancelled ones and tell them their ops are back on.... surely they should have asked you if the new date was ok with you before cancelling other people...all sounds a bit iffy to me...at this rate they will have you in over christmas...a word of advise....do not refuse too many times as you maybe put back on the waiting list...
