There is a massive fire ongoing in Dubai in a 60 story Sky scraper. This one is really serious.

These buildings are a disaster waiting to happen, same goes for Massive Shjps, Massive Planes and super fast trains. One accident and all hell breaks loose.

I could'nt agree more imagine being 60 floors up ,and the fire alarm goes of ,its a long way to the ground floor ,especially if the lift's out of action.

No one is forced to go into these hotels or to live by them.
I've been in the Address a number of times and would still do so if it wasn't on fire.
What is of most concern is that it is the external cladding that is so flammable. The fires thus far have either started in the cladding or have been carried by it. There are a lot of buildings in Dubai (Doo bye) that have this material on them.
Doesn't anyone test the materials they build with?
How many other countries have used the same cladding on buildings large or small?

These buildings are zoned vertically and horizontally and even have evacuation lifts.
Not all lifts are affected by a fire and not all lifts go from ground to roof just as not all lifts are open to every floor.

Anyone interested in how flammable cladding get installed onto the outside of tall buildings should read this...
http://www.thenational.ae/business/prope...eaningless#full
It answers my question about testing of the materials.
To summarise,
The Aluminium material used for the cladding was tested in Texas for fire resistance but not flammability.
During the test the entire sample burnt away, leaving only the plasterboard it was mounted on.
The test was considered successful because it took 102 minutes to consume the Aluminium which is 42 minutes longer than required, except that the plasterboard provided all of the fire resistance so the test was meaningless.
The Aluminium material tested was not the final cladding product.
The final cladding was filled with highly flammable low density Polyethylene.

Having read this, I wonder what the insurance company will think about their liability in any claim.

According to one law firm it is a nightmare for all involved because many of the applicable laws aren't fully enforceable yet. Everyone involved in the buildings Design, Construction, Operation and Habitation could be held liable.
It will end up being a battle between many insurance companies.
Mostly it seems that the Designers could bear the brunt of the blame and they only carry Professional Indemnity insurance. They also say there are no bankruptcy laws in the UAE so there is no escape if found liable.
