More Cars Without Tax

#1 by Sheldonboy , Thu Nov 26, 2015 7:45 pm

Was this such a surprise? No Tax disc to display so less people buy them. This was absolutely obvious from the start.
This bloody stupid Government absolutely stuns me.

What's the point of a tax disc if there is no one in authority to inspect it?
At least with computers and number plate detection equipment coppers can catch the cars that haven't paid without having to stop them for something else first.
Now if only there were some coppers about.

Correct about the computer bit. But as having no tax is such a big problem why not use both systems.

A car was clamped by the DVLA yesterday in our road, they put big stickers on back and front saying the vehicle was untaxed. the driver who was doing some work on a house and doesn't live in our road took the stickers off. this morning the car had gone and the clamp was leaning up a garden wall, it had been cut off..

When car's were issued with tax discs you could see at a glance weather or not they were taxed now the bobby on the beat has no way of telling .

That's so funny Jo.
The "Bobby on the Beat", how quaint.
You might see Community Officers on foot but I have never seen them checking things like Tax Discs. They are more likely to be having a bit of a laugh.
I've even observed them walking in the road to get past cars parked fully on the pavement but doing absolutely nothing about the car.
The real coppers are all in cars and couldn't see a tax disc properly even if they wanted to.

With modern printers it is easy to print out something that would pass as a tax disc so a glance wouldn't prove anything anyway.
Severe penalties are required for offenders, not stickers and useless wheel clamps.
The complete removal and destruction of the vehicle would guarantee that it doesn't continue to go untaxed and may deter others.
At the very least it would make those of us who are legal feel better about paying for tax, Insurance and MOT testing.

I have the answer to the human rights issue.
Blame the car for not being taxed and penalise the car.

John Cleese had the right idea.
