My father lived above George Hope's barbers shop on Church Road in Yardley when he was born in 1948.
I'd love to know if anyone has an old photo. The shop would have been there until around 1952 when a Mr Vaughan took over the shop and carried on as a barber.

Hello asl1978,
Welcome to the forum.
There are a number of photo's of Yardley and Stechford shops floating around.
Fortunately people used to photograph such things.
I'll check my library. I'm sure others on here will do the same.
Voltman, Yardley.

The only Barbers Shop I can find at the moment is at No. 19 Josiah Pugh, hairdresser. 1949
This is either in the shops that were opposite the Swan indoor market until Tesco smashed the area up, or where the Swan Island is now.
It was the tenth shop on the left hand side of Church Road, counting from the Coventry Road as it was before it was widened.

Thanks to all the replies thus far. My search for an elusive photo goes on. I have one from the 70's but this was sadly under different ownership and it was just in the corner of the photo. All help gratefully received.
