An awful situation Astwood, you can't legislate against it or guard against it, yes you would expect a terrorist threat but not from one of the senior crew.

Unfortunately some people have to make a show of it and go out with a bang. Thats why some people have to sit on the edge of a roof and gather a crowd before they jump off.

I understand some Airlines are to adopt a system so that if one of the pilots have to leave the cockpit of the aircraft for any reason they must be replaced by another member of the crew first so that there are always two up front.

I find it a little peculiar that the airline said they had not idea what religion the pilot was. I know it seems pretty certain to be the copilot responsible now, but certainly in the UK they always ask your religion on forms, even though usually it is none of their business
