On the news they said crash. I thought that didn't sound right, they might come off but I don't remember them ever crashing together.

I understood an empty tester car was stationary on the track, this was hit from the rear.

The rides are safe it's the idiots operating them that are at fault.
It seems there was a problem with the cars stopping, They supposedly fixed it and then sent out a test car.
The test car got stuck but they still sent out a full car straight after it.
I'm amazed there aren't sensors on the cars to prevent this. Perhaps there are.
We will have to await any publishing of the investigation to find out what they did wrong.
In my experience, machines, no matter how well designed, are at the mercy of the operator or minder.
As soon as you completely eliminate the possibility of operator error or interference you render the machine almost useless.
I can't wait to see how popular this particular ride is if ever runs again.
Is anyone ever going to trust the operators of any of Alton Towers rides?

"security staff would have called 999 as soon as an assessment had been made.". What a bloody stupid statement. No doubt they called after it had been noted in the daily log (in triplicate?)

I know some places for some pathetic jobsworth reason one person is responsible for calling emergency services. If this was the case the staff probably couldn't find him/her.

Girl loses leg, what a sad shame for a 17 year old girl.

This would have been so easily avoided, the operators of the ride need screwing, as do their management.
It looks to me as though profit comes before safety. Gross negligence is evident.
"Accidents do happen and that's exactly what I think it was," said Matt Bennett.
This guy should learn the difference between, ignorance, negligence and stupidity.
"On some rides operators even have to complete written exams, they said."
Wow, that must mean you need some sort of a brain in order to qualify for the job. Doh!
