New Street Station, A New Look

Saw that ,at last daylight is getting through it was like a tunnel before.

It was never meant to be an underground station but that is how I remember it from when I used it in the seventies and eighties. I used it 14 months ago and had to wait on the train for over an hour while a driver was trained up. I don't remember seeing any daylight that night.
It's a miserable horrible station and always will be.

Its a great improvement to what it was before

There was plenty of room for improvement.

I think a lot of the problems concerned with New Street Station is the sixties love affair with the great God concrete. The art of design went out of the window and most of the buildings were a disgrace. Just look at the old Bull Ring. It was a monster filthy toilet. Just remember some of the great buildings now demolished, we have lost some fabulous bulidings in Birmingham and replaced them with a load of square boxes.

Concrete is a cheap way to build thats why its taken over the brick
