HS2 in Washwood Heath

#1 by Voltman , Mon Dec 23, 2013 12:19 pm

I though it was a good idea then I realised I didn't care either way.
From reading the work schedule it becomes clear that the disruption will be enormous, so now I wonder what people in Washwood Heath think of it.

But they are going to dig up, re-route or bury an awful lot of stuff.
The idea that it will provide jobs is an interesting one. No doubt the Bulgarian prime minister is particularly gleeful about the prospect.

The trains will no doubt be built in Spain

Spanish trains are brilliant ;-)
Where THEY have it right, is that it only costs €6 return for a trip of 80 kms or so (each way), and only €90 return to get from Valencia to Barcelona and back (about 450 kms each way)
The trains are spotlessly clean, many have TV screens, and they run perfectly to time!

Where they don't crash due to insufficient safety precautions to prevent cowboy drivers

I like The Spanish train service. I don't know how the pricing compares to ours but I have done Barcelona to Madrid and Madrid to Valencia in outright comfort.
My experiences of long journeys in this country are very mixed but the over-riding memory is one of loathing.

Accidents can happen anytime, anywhere. The UK also has a blotted copybook for both service and safety.
