Sounds like shoddy workmanship again, but they will say some excuse to cover it up,no one will get a reprimand for it.

If that floor needs finishing to "an acceptable Standard" why did the Clerk of Works pass it in the first place?
And since when was "acceptable standard" good enough for a new building?

May just say there is no skilled trades men in the building trade to day, they stopped taking on apprentices when self employment came into being and that's been over 20 years ago, hence cheap foreign labour.

it's fair to say that the stupid rules allow people to carry on with loads of trades without adequate training. Then you get a situation such as the Electrical trade where of course it's critical that all engineers are trained to a high standard. But it seems as though an electrician needs a new certificate every time someone designs a new plug.

Self employment is at least as old as employment. I fail to see how lower standards of workmanship can be attributed to being self employed. Employers pay for poor work, customers do not. So the truth is in fact quite the opposite.

Before self employment most of the big companies took on many apprentices, after self employment they stopped employing them and being self employed where mostly one or two man working together and could not afford to train apprentices, hence the demise of skilled workmen in the building trade

I don't know about worse Lyn. When I first visited, a short time after it opened, only one lift was working, and you had to climb the stairs to get to the top. It might be an attempt to promote healthy living by giving people more exercise .LOL
