To get us started here is a link to an old film clip.

This clip demonstrates why I always call the long barn "The Coach House" which is how I remember it from when I was a kid.

Nice little film, I wonder who the men mowing the lawn, and the one polishing the brass were, 1957- probably no longer with us, I'm sure their families are still about, pity they couldn't come on this site.
You know when I was a kid at holiday time ,during the summer the hall was always on our list of things to do.That little film was a real blast from the past.
My contribution a few photos taken over the years.

I seem to remember the long barn had a big window in the side in the Sixties and I think that there was either a horse drawn Fire Engine or a coach housed there, I'm not sure which or where it went. SB

Thank you Phil.
SB, take a look at the film clip I linked to in the second post, you'll be amazed.
It was a coach when I first went there in about 1963 but clearly it had been a fire engine not long before then.
Yes, Denise, I spent a lot of time in there when I was a kid.
Do you remember a model layout of yardley with a panel of push switches and a description of a local feature?
When you pushed the switch a small lamp came on in the model to show where the feature was.

Whats this about a Model and a back passage does this need moderating?

Wasn't that the bit you couldn't walk on because the floorboards were dodgy?
