You wouldn't think this building on the Stratford Road was historically important, but it was the home of Vale Onslow, Brums motorbike king.

Know Vale Onslows well he had a shop in handsworth as well soho road use to go to school with his son peter,when I had motor bikes never went anywhere else ,he would advise as well as sell you spares,they were happy day's.

Yes your right S B he had workshops at the back of both shop's but the one in soho road was only a small one.He always tried to get to the isle of man for the T T races,and he road a bike well into his nineties. He put some of his bikes into the T T races ,but I don;t know if he ever rode in them him self.

I nearly had a souped up norton once,a lad i knew in rookery road years ago had this norton that had been in the T Traces they put a stamp on the frame,it would do 50 in second gear,easy,not got all the money ,so went round on the borrow ,when I got enough the bike was gone,the lad wanted the money to pay his college fees.I was devastated.
