I don't like to see anybody loose their job. But if the council have worked their sums out correctly and can afford to loose a 1000 jobs To me that means the council have wasted millions of pounds over the years, for staff they didn't need.

Not the case Dennis, if the Council could still operate with fewer staff I would agree but several services will go including nine swimming pools.
Most of the country is being bled to death. You will notice you will not get a council tax reduction amid all these savings.

bet some binmen lose their jobs dont forget we do most their job for them these days and dont forget they have to find the best part of 200 million quid for that new library they have built which is an much use as a chocolate firequard..so many negative feedbacks about that and the way its run.. also no money left to save our historical buildings..all they are interested in is making the city centre look pretty and glitzy..

200 million quid for a new library need you say anymore, no wonder a 1000 jobs have to go if the council spend money on things like that. Don't forget its not one person who makes these decisions

In this case The Library was heavily pushed as far as I know by a certain Councillor that is now in The House of Lords and he had a lot of power.

The thing is, as normal working class people (unless there are any Lords reading this), we should be able to trust the Labour Party to look after us as traditionally they came from our ranks with our kind of values. Unfortunately for us and lucky for them our fine Labour MPs (in my eyes) managed to get an Education, possibly University. And in my uneducated but considered opinion most of them seem to have come out with Conservative views and again in my opinion there is no difference between the three main parties. If any Labour (or other) MPs happen to disagree with this post, please feel free to join this forum. We will make you very welcome. Sheldonboy
