Today on telly results of survey in accents. Worst is scouse, close second brummie, it sounds thick and untrustworthy. We all know different on this site, I wonder what Carl Chinn would say about that. I am brummie so was my parents, whatever anyone says I will always say I'm a brummie.

Evening Jo too right pal, always be a Brummie and always be proud of it.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

I would Agree with you but then we would both be wrong wouldn't we.

Some deranged and misguided people reckon I sound like a Brummie.
Well they are all gormless berks.

Not me Volty I know you use your strong Brummie accent to disguise your soft Martian tones.
As this gormless berk has known you for quite a long time I can say you are more Brummie than the Balti belt.

well my brummie acent is long gone, having been sent to school in oxford after both my parents died before I was 6, then moving to australia when I was around 22, in fact its only odd words that australians pick to guess im not one of them, garage, dance are the give aways. my cousins in bham moan that I sound like an aussie, if fact when im in the UK most people treat me like a tourist, I find it very funny in Oxford when people ask me if im lost, the other thing I find odd - is on my last trip I came off the M6 and drove through the centre of Brum around the moor st area then bristol rd, on to A34 to solihull, same in london, from Leytonstone, stratford, mile end, out to camberwell, crystal palace, seems most people I spoke to thought I was mad. I have a standard rule if you can drive round Denpasar you can drive round anywhere, sorry wandered off acents, put another srimp on the barbi

UK distances must be nothing compared to driving in Australia.
I thought the phrase was "throw another sheep on the barbi there mate?"

You're right as usual, its not unusual for us to drive 2 hrs to go out for dinner, distance is unreal, from melb its a three day drive to perth, 10 or so to sydney, brisbane not sure 1.5 days, darwin we at a guess 5 days, i always say how lucky you are to live in the uk, 2 hrs flying you can hit maybe 7 countries or more, here by plane 3 hrs west perth, 5 hrs north darwin, 3 hours south west new Zealand, Bali 6hrs, Hong Kong and Singapore 8 hrs.
Australia has many upside we are mostly imune from the worlds troubles both financially and terrorists issues. the only problem is getting anywhere quickly , guess that's worth its weight in gold
