Phhil I moan like heck about the twice a day dog walk but it is the highspot of their day so who could deny them.......stops me from being a couch potato too.

One of the reasons I chose a large dog is because it will need to be walked regularly. I keep getting told off for not getting enough exercise so now I have to go.

My cat left home for 24 hours, she is outside at the moment sitting on top of the shed. The wife is trying to coax her down. I said just leave her, she will go into the shed when she is ready. She sleeps in there during the summer (her choice).

Phil, I think your cat is waiting for some attention and assurances from you that she is not being displaced. Put yourself in her position, your wife brings home a new husband (and let's assume there is nothing you can do about it).... how do you feel?

I understand all that, but if she chooses to go missing for 24 hours, which cats do all the time. Then there is little we can do about it, my wife stood out in the pouring rain last night for an hour trying to tempt her down off the roof with treats but she wouldn't have it.

She gave up in the end and came in, when Angel decided the time was right she went in the shed ate her food snuggled up in her bed and presumably slept. She was gone again this morning.

She was exactly the same when we had her (she was a rescue cat) she couldn't get on with our Yorkie. That is when she started sleeping in the shed, they gradually learnt to put up with each other. I'm hoping that Angel will do the same again.

All this talk about cats and dogs, when I had my alsation, and it's the only dog I would ever have, my evening walk was from Hay MILLS to the Swan, from there to the Yew Tree, down Hobmoor Rd., to Fosbrooke Rd, every single night of the week.

Before they changed the law, we had four German Shepherds one after the other as guard dogs. They were all named Sam. I found them to be the most intelligent obedient dogs that you could ever ask for.

Unlike most our dogs were not chained up all day long but roamed around the yard free. They didn't approach or intimidate any visitors and no one was allowed to pet them. Once those gates closed at night they took on a different personality, they knew what was expected of them and I tell you this you would have needed to be a very brave man to enter our yard at night.

I'll be repairing toilet lighting. How exciting is that?

Went and saw my Doctor today for my three monthly check up. My doctor is a good advert for private health care. Something I have always been strongly opposed to, but after 75 minutes waiting past your appointment time. The mind can wander off on some terrible tangents. I thought if I was paying for this directly, then I wouldn't sit quietly here saying nothing.

Still I shouldn't worry about it too much, if the ConDems get their way we will all be paying for private health care soon like it or not.

I think if you can afford to go private then do so to cut the NHS list for the next poor bugger that needs it LOL.

When we were rich we went private and the rooms and the food were lovely but the treatment was no better.Just on time and in much better surroundings.

The thing I valued most was a lovely room to myself,last time I was in QE this lovely old lady keptt me awake half the night hunting for stuff in her locker,nearly drove me nuts LOL.

God forbid they take our NHS away.

I was only forced to go private once and that was to get treatment for my wife who was suffering with a trapped nerve at the time. I was forced into this by that womans manufactured 2 year waiting lists for treatment on the NHS.

I paid to see a specialist at the Priory and I paid for Xrays that cost me a total of around £200 quite a tidy sum in the 80's and I was prepared to pay for an operation to free it as well. Luckily a few days after seeing the specialist it freed itself and it has never troubled her since.

If it had been me I would have suffered and waited but you can't see your wife in tears each day.
