my heart goes out to the parents of these two little boys...how to cope with the loss of one child would be bad enough but two???....must say i find it hard to understand how one snake can strangle both boys...

The snake was at least ten years old, it was a python possibly big enough to wrap itself around a car.

I agree SB, but that begs the question as to why a snake of that size was allowed to be for sale in a pet shop. I am not against snakes, and know someone who recently moved flat so as he could have a bigger oen with a room to house his "collection" , but would have hoped that animals that might be dangerous should only be housed under appropriate conditions. Bur maybe things are different in Canada

After ten years in the shop it sounds more like the shop owners pet being kept as tax deductible.
At 100lbs in weight it might be a bit big to sell yet it managed to sneak through the ventilation system.
It all sounds a bit too far fetched, but if there is any more to it the mounties will soon discover the truth

police enquires into this awful tragedy...the snake was kept in private apartment and the chain of events reads like something from a horror film....
