Good god, an honest politician !! I wish some of the other PCCs would now come out and admit the whole scheme was a gravy train . Not very likely though

I've never thought that having a political commissioner was a good idea. A panel of independent individuals would be getting closer to the right idea.

That was the Idea of the Police Authority when the members could be bothered to turn up for meetings.

The trouble with volunteer organisations is even with the best intend in the world after a little while other things and duties seem to gain more importance. This is why I agree with it being a paid position, just keep politics out of it and anybody with a political background should be refused.
