Never went to the Ritz myself even if the Beatles played there. I always thought it was overrated even back then. I used the doubles bar in the back room of the Hare & Hounds next door many times. I thought that a much better place, mind you the Ritz was a bingo hall then. I bet SB remembers it when it was a cinema.

Sorry Volty I meant the Ritz not Atlas
Phil when you were using that pub I was still at School, I had never heard of Kings Heath then.

Was you still at school in 1974? because thats when I used the Hare and Hounds. I used to pop in there to fill up on cheap whisky before going to the Country & Western club at the Red Lion in Vicarage Rd.

I drove through Kings Heath about two months ago and saw an old cinema on the Alcester Road that I never knew was there.
The name was quite clear because it is carved in stone. I wondered if that was the Atlas. I have just checked and it is called the Kingsway.

An aerial view shows that is in only the frontage that survives, the rest has collapsed. The Kingsway
