This is another example of the big boys squeezing out all the little boys.
So when the greedy big boys have taken all of the profits and the business goes bust there are no little boys to take up the work.
It happened with Jessops now Brum has no camera shops.
In my view before long it will happen with supermarkets. They are forcing small shops to shut and there are too many, we have at least eight within ten mimutes of us.
Wheh they go where do we buy food and with what when the jobs have gone.

point taken on that SB..i guess those that cant afford the net and its not that expensive will be piling into the librarys to use their computers and no doubt they could go into massive debt to buy a pc from one of these companies who dont do credit checks but charge massive interest rates for the privilage...i can honestly say that both of my lads very rarely use the shops..they buy all their clothes..footwear and bike gear online because its so much cheaper than the retail shops..same goes for tools..bike parts and cleaning materials...you wouldnt believe the savings they make...

Access is only a small part of it Lyn. My point is if people have no jobs they won't have the money to spend online.

yes i got your point SB and i said so...all i am saying is that by the time those who can afford to internet shop have probably lost their jobs (and no one is safe) then the little man will have been blown out of the water..

Absolutely and most of the jobs will be part time or poorly paid and we can't afford the welfare state anymore.

In my opinion this country is rapidly sliding down the tubes why? Because of the EU we have all these foreign owned companies and all they are doing is funnelling the profits straight out of the country to foreign investors. What little money we have left is being paid out in benefit to economic migrants from EU countries and to our own unemployed who can't get work because there are not enough jobs to go around.

So what is our fearless leader doing is he going to give us the referendum that he and previous PM's have promised, No he is going to give the EU a serious talking to and tell them they are being very naughty.

As I have said before Phil we have nobody in this country with the Guts and the skill to Govern it.

I never thought of HMV as a "little boy".
I wonder how many small local record shops they forced into bankruptcy with their national conglomerate?

My meaning was of HMV as one of the big boys who helped to shut out the independants.

Yes SB, I believe you were. I didn't read it that way initially as you went on to say this is what happened with Jessops and I got confused because I know you are a big fan of Jessops.

According to this website, www.photographywebsite.co.uk there are only three Camera shops in Birmingham.
I will start a thread, inviting members to add any shops they know of to the list.

Not so much a big fan of Jessops, its just that it was the only camera shop in town. plus the fact that I bought my Lumix camera from there in July of last year and received a fair bit of help in choosing and setting it up. The camera before that my Nikon compact I bought from Jessops in Solihull and I was able to take it outside and have a go with it first. Some chance of that in Argos.
