Tesco's To Shut Stores

43 to go. Sounds like a good excuse to trim some staff.

Tesco's will be closing some non profitable stores, and so they should, they are not a branch of social services.
They should also be opening bigger stores, as planned, because the efficiences can be greater and a shrinking business will only ever shrink further.
It isn't the profitability of their stores that is a problem, it's the arrogant management, the small percentage of lazy arrogant staff and the criminal accounting that will finish them.

Their adverts suggest they are a caring supermarket. "Every Little Helps" is there strap line. Looks like they got that wrong if you are employed at one of their smaller stores affected. Bigger is not always best!.

They really done the dirty on wolverhampton,bought the site years ago never done anything with it ,now they don't want it .

So we started off with Tesco's, then Morrisons, now Sainsbury's. Lets all jump on the band wagon to get rid off some dead wood. An easy way to get rid of a pile of staff.

Give me a small shop with a bit of personal service any day.

The supermarkets shut the small shops down, now they are suffering. GOOD I say. Apart from their staff some of whom will have nowhere to go.

The bosses wont suffer ,it will be the workers as usual ,they alway's cop for it first.

Some of them deserve to go. They strut about the store like they own the place, expecting the customer to get out of their way, leaving goods trucks in the aisles, rubbish everywhere and generally annoying me.

Screw 'em.

I say thank goodness for Aldi Lidel and all the rest of the cut price supermarkets. Competition is forcing prices down. Tesco have cut many prices already had to change their top man and Morrissons have sacked their top bod for falling asleep at the wheel. The cut price supermarkets have only a tiny slice of the trade but its put a rocket up the big boys.

Hi PJ welcome to our forum, I have to agree, along with the Pound shops and the 99p shops they are all helping to bring the big greedy lads into line. Now the politicians are all panicking because inflation is too low. Bloody idiots.

It isn't low inflation that they worry about, it's the lull in trade that occurs when people stop spending while they await the lower prices that negative inflation will bring.
I can't see that affecting food sales though, just unnecessary crap like fancy mobile phones and train sets.

Football clubs seem to spend even more money, and there is nothing more unnecessary than that
